Hamlet

Come to the JBHS production of Hamlet, set in the context of 1971! Experience the classic work of Shakespeare transported into Vietnam-War-era America. Protests against the war, political rise of college students, controversial corporations, and government corruption ruled the time. Hamlet, freshly graduated from UC Berkeley, returns to his family’s summer home in the Hamptons. With funerals, weddings, and murders galore, Hamlet’s family struggles to hold on to their corporate monopoly. Watch the chaos ensue in our interpretation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet—Playing November 18, 19, 20 2022.

Come watch the JBHS production of Rent! Mark: a poor aspiring film director and Roger: a poor aspiring rock star survive an AIDS ravaged New York City. City life never sleeps! Mark deals with his ex-girlfriend Maureen and her new girlfriend Joanne; Roger meets Mimi, a sex worker who deals with drug addiction. Collins, their former roommate, and Angel, the group's newest friend try to endure life as queer people in the early 1990s. On top of everything, Benjamin Coffin III is constantly reminding the struggling artists that the rent is due. Through strife and clashes between the friends, the threat of eviction looms. Monsters! D&D! Sisters! She Kills Monsters is a delightful comedy that meshes important messages about familial relationships and fantastical worlds of Dungeons and Dragons. Meet Agnes, a teenage cheerleader who is completely normal, and her sister, Tilly: a geek. When Tilly dies in a bicycle accident, Agnes decides to try the unthinkable…being a geek. Navigating a nerdy secret, a boyfriend, a best friend, and her own fears, Agnes destroys monsters…maybe? Watch and see in She Kills Monsters, coming to JBHS Drama on May 5, 6, and 7!
